Peruvian Avenue streetscape work begins Monday

Robert Janjigian • Sep 29, 2013
Burkhardt Construction of West Palm Beach will start work Monday on streetscape improvements to the 400 block of Peruvian Avenue.
Barriers will be erected on both sides of the street, with a single traffic lane open during the four-month-long project. No on-street parking will be available during the construction, which is projected to finish by the end of January. Property owners on the block are footing the bill for the $1.3 million job through a 10-year bond. The project involves installing landscaped areas on both sides of the street, new street lighting, Tabby concrete sidewalks, drainage systems and repaving. Mark Marsh of  Bridges & Marsh Architects and landscape architecture firm Sanchez & Maddux collaborated on the streetscape redesign. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes, such as Royal Palm Way and Brazilian and Australian avenues, to avoid the construction zone. The single open lane may need to be closed during the building process. Demolition is expected to begin Tuesday.
